Efficient Power Routing for Intermediate Loads

Our Sub-Main Distribution Boards (SMDBs) are the critical links in a facility’s electrical hierarchy. Positioned between the Main Distribution Board (MDB) and the final Service Panels, these boards are designed to take a large power feed and split it into multiple smaller sub-feeds. They provide localized control and protection for specific floors, departments, or heavy-duty machinery zones.

  • General Description: A robust, medium-to-high capacity distribution system designed for reliability and safety. As an authorized manufacturer, Square EIC builds SMDBs that offer excellent discrimination, ensuring that a fault in one localized area does not disrupt the power supply to the rest of the building.

  • Key Technical Specs:

    • Rated Current: Typically ranging from 125A to 800A.

    • Rated Operating Voltage: 415V / 690V.

    • Short-Circuit Capacity: Designed to withstand up to 36kA – 50kA for 1 second.

    • Form of Separation: Available in Form 2, Form 3, or Form 4 to ensure safe maintenance access to individual outgoing circuits.

    • Ingress Protection: Standard IP42/IP54 for indoor use, with IP65 versions available for industrial or outdoor plant rooms.

  • Design & Components:

    • Switchgear: Equipped with high-performance Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) as incomers and either MCCBs or MCBs for outgoing feeders.

    • Busbar System: High-conductivity electrolytic copper busbars, precision-machined and supported by high-strength insulators to withstand thermal and electromagnetic stress.

    • Metering: Optional integrated digital multifunction meters to monitor the energy consumption of specific sections or floors.

  • Why Choose Square EIC SMDBs?

    1. Compact Efficiency: Engineered to provide high circuit density in a space-saving enclosure, perfect for electrical cupboards and mechanical rooms.

    2. Safety & Discrimination: We ensure precise coordination between upstream and downstream breakers, so only the faulty circuit is tripped during an event.

    3. Ease of Installation: Features ample room for cable bending and termination, with removable top and bottom gland plates for flexible entry.
